What do you do and why do you do it?
Queen Mrs. USA America Nation 2023, Dr. Raquel LaCour-Marsh, works as an advocate with The BedRock Movement. She does this because she was once a victim of domestic violence, and she had to deal with her situation until she could flee her abuser. From this traumatic relationship, she isolated herself from her children to make sure they didn’t see domestic violence and it took her time to heal from the ordeal. Dr. Raquel protected her children from not having them exposed and as a result she couldn’t fight for custody of her youngest daughter, because her ex-husband could provide a stable home with financial stability.
How does what you do benefit others?
Queen USA counseling other women as an advocate with The BedRock Movement, helps other women to know that you can overcome domestic violence that often leads to substance abuse. Queen Raquel counseling gives women a safe and confidential space to discuss their feelings and allows women to know they are not alone. She provides the statistics to empower them that they can move on from this tragic ordeal that many women have had to deal with. She allows them to know that this is not their fault, and provides resources to give them information and guidance. Her main purpose is to rebuild self esteem, confidence and self-love.
Describe your career journey and how you got here?
The career journey, Dr. Raquel took was to educate herself first. She focused on her strengths and remained concise and determined. She looked into several opportunities until she found her passion. She enjoys writing, sales and helping others. She uses all these skills with her employment and community service.
Where do you see yourself five years from now?
In 5 years Dr. Raquel plans to always continue with charitable work. She wants to continue to be an inspiration and represent empowered women.
Who is your favorite superhero?
Queen USA, Raquel’s favorite superhero is Wonder Woman. She can relate to Wonder Woman because she can protect her character and soul by not being destroyed by the wickedness of others. She is a champion by supporting people that are homeless and underprivileged that most people tend to ignore
If you could have one superpower to further your purpose, what would it be?
Queen USA America Nation, Dr. Raquel LaCour- Marsh super power would be immortality. As someone immortal she could continue to live in her purpose by helping others. By living forever she could further bring those closer to God as well.
